4/12/12 Workout…bringing back Cardio Hell

Since the Warrior Dash is drawing near, I’m keeping Tracy and I in cardio workouts. We’ve done all we can with our strength, now to make sure we can actually run the 3.2 miles. I wrote about this workout four months or so ago, and it was not fun. It was not fun today either, but it was a whole lot easier to do.

Warm-up: 5 minute walk

  • 10 minute run
  • 50 jumping jacks
  • 30 sec jump rope
  • 20 alternating lunges w/ bicep curl, 10 lbs
  • 30 sec jump rope
  • 10 tuck jumps
  • 30 sec jump rope
  • 20 squats, 10 lbs
  • 30 sec jump rope
  • 60 sec high knees
  • 30 sec jump rope
  • 10 squat jumps onto platform
  • 30 sec jump rope
  • 10 burpees (can I say how high I can jump on these burpees now? its fantastic!)
  • 30 sec jump rope
  • 60 jumping jacks
  • 30 sec jump rope
  • 20 sec mountain climbers
  • 30 sec jump rope
  • 60 sec elevated plank

A 10 minute run feels like nothing now. There’s no heavy breathing or trying to catch my breath. We were able to have a fully functional conversation afterward. The rest was hard, and we were super sweaty, but it was nothing like the first time we tried it. I still keep wigging out about how far we’ve come on our workouts. Its amazing what you can accomplish if you stick with something. Keep that in mind people. Its not about how far you have to go, its about how far you’ve come!

Hey Shannon, me and Leah did this workout yesterday and it was great. I got there about 45 minutes before Leah so I had already done 10 min on elliptical to warm up and 30 minutes of weights and abs; so by the time we finished this I was whooped. 🙂 It felt great though. It was nice to switch things up & I loved having a workout partner which I seldom have due to the busy life of a single mom. You know how it is, fit it in whenever you can. Keep up the great work!!! We even had a lady ask us what we were doing and we gave her your blog address. 🙂

    • That’s awesome! I’m so glad you liked it. Having a partner to work out with makes all the difference. I find that I have no motivation to go when my friend Tracy can’t work out with me. Can’t wait to see you for the Warrior Dash. I think you’ll kick all of our butts! Thanks for the shout out 🙂
